passport rules & conditions

  Welcome to the Rt. 252 Wine & History Trail. Our goal is to create a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all participants while supporting our local wineries, historic sites, and businesses. By participating, you agree to the following rules and conditions:


1. Responsible Participation

  • Participants must be 21 years of age or older to consume alcohol.
  • Valid government-issued photo identification is required at participating wineries.
  • Please drink responsibly. Intoxicated guests may be refused service at any location.

2. Transportation & Safety

  • Participants are strongly encouraged to use a designated driver or car service.
  • Each participant assumes full responsibility for their own transportation and safety.
  • The Rt. 252 Wine & History Trail and participating locations are not responsible for accidents, injuries, or damages occurring during travel between sites.

3. Passport / Trail Program

  • Trail passports must be presented at each location for validation.
  • Passports are non-transferable.
  • Lost or stolen passports will not be replaced.

4. Conduct

  • Guests must behave respectfully toward staff, other visitors, and property.
  • Disorderly conduct, harassment, or property damage will result in removal from the      premises and possible disqualification from trail activities.

5. Participating Locations

  • Each winery and historic site operates independently and reserves the right to:
    • Refuse service
    • Modify hours of operation
    • Enforce its own policies
  • Please check individual locations for hours, reservations, and event schedules before visiting.

6. Weather & Unforeseen Circumstances

  • The trail operates rain or shine unless otherwise announced.
  • Participating locations may close due to weather, private events, or emergencies.
  • No refunds will be issued due to closures outside the control of trail organizers.

7. Photography & Media

  • Participation may include incidental photography or video for promotional purposes.
  • By participating, guests grant permission for use of images unless otherwise      requested in writing.
  • Participants completing the passport will be acknowledged on our website.

8. Rewards

  • Passports validated with the purchase of a bottle of wine.
  • Participants completing the passport should return their passport to Above Ground      Winery to receive free gift. 
  • Participants will be acknowledged on our website with first name and last initial, and      may include city and state
  • Participants completing the pass will receive a complimentary wine tasting for a future      visit on the trail. 
  • Drawing for the grand prize will be held the first week in December 5, 2026 and winner      does not need to be present. 
  • Passports that are illegible will be disqualified from the competition.
  • and will be good until May 31, 2027. 

9. Liability

Participation in the Rt. 252 Wine & History Trail is voluntary. Participants assume all risks associated with attendance, travel, and alcohol consumption. The organizers and participating businesses are not liable for personal injury, loss, or damage.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, participants release and hold harmless:

  • Trail organizers
  • Sponsors
  • Participating wineries
  • Participating historic sites
  • Property owners
  • Officers, employees, volunteers, and agents

from any and all claims, demands, damages, liabilities, costs, or causes of action arising out of or related to participation in the Trail, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, death, property damage, or loss.
